Hi Angel, I really liked your presentation on Gordon Parks. I think you did a great job of explaining Parks background as well as going in depth on three of his popular photographs. I agree with the part about how each of the photographs you mentioned lines up with some of the categories for criticizing photos from chapter four. When I see Gordon Parks work I see reality and a part of everyday life that isn't always captured. This effects my overall perception of photography because I have learned that images don't have to just be ascetically evaluative to be worth admiring. Because of this, I will try to capture more of the reality of society rather than always focusing on the beauty of nature. - Amelia Orndorff

Hi! I'm not sure if you want us commenting here, but I wanted to comment on your presentation about Steve McCurry. He has taken some truly powerful photos. I think that it is interesting how the meaning of a photo changes with time. Since some of the events McCurry captured are somewhat less significant now, some of the pictures may fall on the aesthetically evaluative side of photography. It was also interesting to watch you critique the images as well because you noticed completely different things than I would! For instance, in the camel image, I noticed the rule of odds (3 camels) before I noticed the rule of thirds. Although, I think they come together to make an appealing…
